Sounds associated with the thriller genre
These sound effects are commonly seen within the thriller genre. This is because sounds such as a cat screaming is sudden and creates a faster pace to the film, it also allows the audience to get a little scared at what the cat is screaming about and creates tension. All of the sound effects are used to create a sudden sense of mystery or suspense, which are conventions associated with the type of genre. A sound of a gun for example has certain themes which they are associated with, such as murder, death and crime. In hearing a gun shot the audience already knows what has happened or what is about to occur.
